Matthew 5; 14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. All this month many of us will go in search of Christmas lights. Many will light up our homes inside and out with lights displaying our joy for Christ. Jesus said in Matthew 5 that we are the light of the world, a city that is set on a hill cannot be hid, neither do men light a candle and put it under a basket, but on a candlestick; and it gives unto all that is in the house. So let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. As we go in search of Christmas lights this month, let us also go and be the light to a lost and lonely world. God illustrated this to me one day in a crazy kinda way. I have this old pair of boots that I like to wear and they are very comfortable. I polished them and put a real good shine on them the other day and everywhere I went people commented on my boots, how good looking they were. Just the day before no one even noticed them, they were just another old pair of boots. Then God started showing me that is the way Christian’s are, sometimes we get a little too comfortable in our walk with Him! We need to put a little shine in our walk! Jesus wants us to be a witness. His word tells us to go out into the highways and hedges and compel people to come in so that His house will be filled. We are to go into all the world and to preach the Gospel! The best sermon we have is our testimony of how God has changed our lives. When is the last time someone asked you if you were a Christian? When was the last time you shared your testimony or your faith with someone that you just met or better yet someone that you may have known all your life. Jesus says we are to let our light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. The choice is ours, and the way we keep that shine is just like you keep a good shine on an old pair of boots. It takes polish, a good brush and good shining rag and a little bit of work. It takes work, to put a little shine in our Christian walk too! We have to read our Bibles every day, we have to pray every day. We need to fellowship with other Christian believers every chance we get. Even if it means getting in a cramped Church bus and going to look at lights this Christmas season. We can use every opportunity to pass out a CD, a Lonesome Road Podcast Collector Card. Who knows, someone just might see the light of Jesus in you! So hide it under a bushel, NO! Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify our Father which is in heaven. If we will do that the shine we put out will be worth the effort. Our 10th year will be a very special conference. We are celebrating by bringing Gaylon Taylor who God spoke to about doing a Three Fold Cord conference way back in 2012. Darrell Spicer had just started Channel 21 Ministries and was very excited about working with our Ministry and Gaylon Taylor’s Ministry so we decided it would be a Three Fold Cord conference with the 3 ministries combining to host the conference. So our first conference was in 2013 at Carmi and this year will be our 10th anniversary of the conference.
So along with Gaylon Taylor, Darrell Spicer, James Payne, I have asked Pastor Richie Turnbo, who was one of Darrell Spicer’s 1st Chaplains, to come and be a Speaker along with Darrell & Gaylon. We will also have James Payne who will speak Friday night and Saturday. I have also asked my Pastor Rick Hays to be one of our speakers along with Richard Coss. Roger Barkley Jr. will be here helping MC and running sound. Stay tuned for more information on some of the talented folks who will be here singing and sharing testimonies of just how great our God is. Last year we had James Payne, Roger Barkley Jr. and the Redemption band, Joe Arview, Bill Schell, Jim & Ann Davenport, Sonshine Road, Ava Kasich, Mike Wellman, and many of you shared testimonies of just how great are God is! Gary RayburnI logged over 4 million miles as a truck driver from 1972 - 2007 and I have written a lot of it in my songs. God has taken me off the road and put me into full time ministry, but I still have a heart for all you drivers out there. Archives
